Medicine Bow Trip
Snowy
Mountain Range Saratoga, WY
March 7th –14th 2009
As I continue to work out the details on
our two western trips for this coming year a couple of things have
changed and you need to know about it immediately as it may or may not
change your plans. I had previously
booked us into the Medicine Bow Lodge
for the first week of March. This has changed. We will now be staying
at
the Medicine Bow Lodge the second week or March 7th thru the
14th. I had originally stated there would be
no
transportation provided on this trip. This too has changed. Mom’s Motor
Sports will now be available to
transport you, your sleds, your gear,
your parts, oil and tools to and from the ranch. The loaded truck will
be
pulling out of South Bend on Saturday morning and will be arriving at
Med. Bow Lodge on Sunday around
noon.To reserve your spots you will need
to do two things:
1.
Make your reservations with the Medicine Bow Lodge by calling
800-409-5439 Make sure to tell them you part of Deak’s group.
2.
Call me at 574-250-2203 and let me know you are going and if you
are:
A. Riding
out in the semi, flying or driving?
B. Sending
your sled & gear out in the semi?
C. In need
of a rental sled?
D. Needing
transportation from the Laramie airport to the Lodge?
E.
Requiring any special foods of have diet restrictions?
I think you can
see all these change are for the better as it opens up more
opportunities for all of us. The
biggest responsibility I have in making
these affordable trips happen is making sure there are enough sleds
in
the semi to cover our drivers fuel and road expenses. Please keep this
in mind as you make your plans.

As I gaze into my crystal ball I would have to say the future seems to be
looking rather bleak, in many ways. Ways in which may impact what we buy
for sleds and where we choose to ride this coming snowmobile season. This
is the first year in many I have not snow-checked a sled and am glad of
it. One thing for sure is we are all going to be looking for better ways
to ride and travel more economically than we have done in the past. I know
this is in the back of my mind as I am now in the planning stages of our
western trips for 09.
I'm going to let you know way in advance what I am thinking as we have
lost some of our options. As you will see this will change how I am laying
these trips out.
Our first trip will be January 17th thru the 24th. We will be staying at
the Steam Boat Lake Lodge in Steamboat, CO. This past March we enjoyed a
week of freestyle riding and visited many places, such as Hahn's Peak, The
Sierra Madras Mountain Range, California Park, Farwell Mountain, Sand
Mountain and Diamond Mountain. Our week flew by so fast and although we
didn't leave much food behind we did leave many areas to still be explored
and enjoyed. We found the conditions (snow, lodging and food) to be
phenomenal and can't wait to go back. With that being said, we all know
that what sometimes feels perfect one time can quickly change for the
next. I have learned over the years that snow conditions and the changing
of lodge management can quickly over shadow our fondest memories. I'm
confident you will not be disappointed in my destination selection.
To keep the cost of this trip at a minimum we will be offering the
services of the semi once again provided by Mom's Motor Sports. As you may
already know their is only room for 24 sleds and 16 passengers. This will
be on a first come first serve basis and I can tell you now you wont want
to wait to reserve your spot on this trip. First, I will hold spots for
those who have joined in on our group rides previously. Secondly I will
opening it up to first comers to fill the lodge and truck.
With the ever increasing prices of air fares, I would say if you are
planning on flying, the sooner you book the cheaper your ticket.
Our second planned trip will again be from March 7 thru the 14th.
This trip will be back to one of our favorite places to ride, The Medicine
Bow Lodge in the Snowy Mountain Range. Here you can always plan on good
snow, food and lodging as we have come to experience over the past several
years. Last year we had awesome snow and the riding conditions were great.
Nothing was left on the table as we tore it up and enjoyed every minute of
it. We found the snow steep and deep and most of us were challenged to the
max. I would expect no less this year.
The semi from Mom's Motor Sports will be available for this trip.
I know this is lengthy mail but its never to soon to start thinking ahead.
I am looking for a response from you. Carefully evaluate what you just
read and let me know your thoughts as we are all in this together
